The children of Chester County…in their own words & their parents…

This is an eleven minute video we compiled last Fall to help illustrate the struggles we were experiencing in our homes. While I make no claim this is the story of every student, this was certainly the story of my owns kids as they are included in the video.

The opening scene if my youngest, with speech apraxia, in a real and raw moment that he asked me to document so that the WCASD administration and School Directors could see the reality he was living every…single…day. My older son shares about his experience being denied in person education after suffering a concussion at school and being restricted from iPads for an indefinite period of time, and being offered no form of education 3 days of week as a result.

This may not have been the scene in your own home, and I have never claimed that all children suffer from remote learning – some thrive and it is wonderful they had (and continue to have) that option. But my children needed in person education and suffered as a result of the prolonged use of full virtual and hybrid education despite throwing any and all resources at the situation.

This is not my only reason for running, nor is this the beginning of my advocacy for my own kids or the children of my community, and it will definitely not be the last of my advocacy whether I am victorious on May 18th or not. Our children are too important and if I will fight for them no matter the circumstances.
